Lyrical Romania

When I drove around southern Bucovina, Romania with a cab driver, we listened to music by a Romanian band, Modern Talking. Modern Talking sings in English, but their lyrics suggest it’s not their native tongue. Here are three sample lyrics:

Tell me how to mend a broken heart.

I don’t want to be a lonely lover.

Tell me how to make a brand-new start.

I will ever be a heart survivor.

Be my taxi taxi girl.

Be my secret taxi girl.

It’s a strange and secret world.

It’s a long and lonely road to Southern Chelsea

The Titanic, A Restaurant in Kaliningrad

Greeting from Kaliningrad which is not unlike Krasnoyarsk ... not as charming but not as bad as I'd feared. A river runs through it. I had a late lunch at the Titanic restaurant. It’s actually, an incredibly pretty, albeit in bad taste restaurant. Prettier than almost any other Russian restaurant I've ever seen. Lifeboats, alas were full.
